And the word of the Lord came unto me… And Aron’s Staff swallowed up their Staff. And what message does the Lord have for his people?
Beloved children of God, the story of Moses and his assignment to free the Israelites from Egypt is a very deep Christian message for us even today. Like many stories of the bible, there are many deep revelations that the Lord presents to us daily.
In Exodus Chapter 7 we read about the beginning of Moses’ visit to the Pharaoh of Egypt and the many signs and wonders beginning with the turning of Aron Stick into a snake. In verses 8 – 13 of this chapter we learn that Aron’s stick ends up swallowing the sticks of Pharaoh’s wise men, sorcerers and magicians. But Pharaoh was still very stubborn.
Just like Aron’s stick, your phone can be a tool to be used for the service of God’s glory. You can share God’s message to impact and change lives and liberate them from evil.
We have a few points to help us in our daily life. The stick which Aron used was made powerful by God. It appeared to be a gift from God. At the appointed time it was used for the service and glory of God. But, this gift and power of God was challenged by Pharaoh’s magicians. The magician also had sticks and with their stick they revealed their powers and challenged Aron & Moses. But the power which God displayed through Moses and Aron swallowed up that of the magicians.
Firstly, have we identified the power and gifts that God has bestowed upon us. Are these gift (no matter how simple or insignificant they may seem to be) available for the disposition of God to manifest his will and power in our lives? Every Christian has a mission to set the captives free! Are you available for this mission. Do you feel you are incapacitated for this mission. What gift do you have available to do this work?
Secondly, when you accept to submit yourself to the will of God, it would be fool-hardy to pretend that our enemies (evil people) have no power. A wise man once said, “Never underestimate the power of the enemy.” I would add, “And always be assured of God’s power to overcome the enemy.” Aron’s stick swallowed that of the magicians.
May your gifts have greater influence and overcome that of your enemies.
Amen!
Thirdly, whenever we desire to do God’s work and show forth the power of God, we must expect challenges. The enemy never backs down. The enemy does not surrender without a fight. Are you ready for the battle? The Christian life has its daily battle, are you prepared for it. If we begin our day with the mindset that our work for God won’t go unchallenged but at the end of the day, the Lord would manifest his power, then we would be reassured and recommitted to be directed by God in carrying out his will.
lastly, the verse 13 reveals that even though the magicians lost the battle, Pharaoh did not surrender to the request of Moses. This reminds us of our daily journey as children of God. Our daily struggle to be liberated from sin and bondage, political and social adversaries is continuous because our physical and spiritual Pharaohs would not free us without a fight. Our enemies are often adamant and attack us with a hardened heart. Even though the manifestation of God in our lives is great, the mind of the enemy is hardened. So we must continue to trust in God and wait on the Lord
3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt, 4 he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites. 5 And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”
Exodus 7: 3-5
This passage gives us the encouragement to keeping standing upon the promises of God, that one day, the arm of the Lord would prevail. it also brings to mind that God may have a hand in the little delays that occurs; as this gives ample opportunity to reveal the glorious, mighty and victorious power of God in our lives. Furthermore, the delays give room to grow our faith/belief, trust and dependence on God’s time. We are expected to be patient with God. We must learn to wait and depend on God’s power even when things seem to be heading for the worst. It may be that God is steering up the embers of the fire for his vengeance.
In conclusion, before Moses came before Pharaoh, God revealed to him what would take place and directed Moses on what needs to be done. You may be on a mission to have a liberated life, free your family, or free your generation from bondage. Have you heard from the Lord or desirous of hearing from the Lord? Are you disposed to bringing that liberty? Would you act today?
- My prayer for us is that God would always reveal his will to us;
- And may we dispose ourselves to completely depend on and follow God’s will;
- May we make use of the gift God has given us to the Glory of God;
- May we have the courage to do God’s will to the letter;
- May we find the courage to serve as God expects;
- And may we trust completely in God when we are doing God’s will;
- Amen and Amen, Amen!
Peace be with you!
