DAILY SCRIPTURAL REFLECTION
SATURDAY OF 27TH WEEK
ORDINARY TIME YEAR II
10/10/26
Galatians 3:22-29; Luke 11:27-28
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Good morning dear friends and welcome to our Scriptural Reflection for today.
A handsome and intelligent boy, who received many rewards in his school, overheard the conversation of his mother and her friend: “Marie, how blest (fortunate) you are to have such a very intelligent and talented son as Johnny!” The mother, obviously so proud of her you son, exhibited a big smile and said, “Thank you very much, dear!” Then the boy respectfully approached the two, kissed his mom’s cheek saying, “Thanks, mom!” and disappeared.
The woman in our gospel reading today upon witnessing the great works of Jesus thought of the woman behind His success, and gave her appreciation. Perhaps she believed in the truth of the saying that behind the success of a man is the sacrifice of a woman.
Had the Blessed Virgin Mary been there in the crowd and heard that woman shouting to Jesus, “Blest is the womb that carried you and the breast that nursed you,” how would she have reacted? I am very sure that Mary must have been proud of her Son, Jesus. but with the response of Jesus: “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it,” what would have been her feelings?
Jesus’ response to the woman, however, is very instructive for us:
Blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God and keep it. (Lk. 11:28)
First, no one has fulfilled this injunction of Jesus as much as Mary; She is the First Christian ever, and remains a great model for every Christian.
Secondly, blood tie is great, but Spiritual ties is more profound. Where blood ties limit us to our earthly family, the Spiritual ties qualifies us as members of a universal family and brotherhood. It does not just make us family members with the rest of humanity, It also makes us Children of God in the community of the saints in heaven.
Finally, being a member of a family is a gift, remaining a member of that family is by choice. The same is true of having a part in God; coming to life is a gift from God our Father, remaining in communion with God is a choice we have to make, only by hearing the word of God and keeping it.
Stay safe, we love you!
