Read 2 Cor. 12:7-10
Welcome to lent. The journey begins. My start was torturous and annoying. Of all days with all the expectations and preparations my little big Gen that controls both the house and the church just refused to start. It’s was 4.30am. You can imagine my confusion. The song of praises I just started when I woke up ceased automatically. I never planned for this.
So many things were running through my mind, I was confused and destabilized. “Gush” I exclaimed, ‘not today, this temptation strong oooo.’ Where and how can I get a repairer at that time of the day? Had to call my engineer, and in no time I became an apprentice. Had to do a little rewiring so that I can get power from a smaller Gen to power the church. Drenched in sweat I smiled to myself saying ‘boy! His grace is enough for you, and nothing will stop your journey.’
Will you be able to undertake and complete your own journey with Jesus this year with all your cares, worries, needs, appetite and more still your distractions? Is it really achievable? Yes I believe it is.
The issue now is not your distractions, weaknesses, hopeless or helpless situation(s) but your willingness to undertake/ undergo the journey.
This journey will or might be difficult with all the challenges therein but you don’t need to rely on your physical strength but on – THE GRACE OF GOD. For Jesus says, “my grace is enough for you, my power is manifested fully in your weakness” 2 Cor. 12:9. Focus on the Lord on this journey.
Do not expect Jesus to remove that thorn (weakness or challenge as the case may be) in your flesh with the flick of his fingers, rather he wants you to journey with them. He says to you now take up your cross and follow me.
Why not sing the song now: “give me grace to follow, give me grace to follow, give me grace to follow, your grace is enough for me.”
Pray with Deuteronomy chapter 1 and Ps. 23&27.
SHEPHERD ME O LORD BEYOND MY STRENGTH.
