DAY XVI: WOULD YOU TRUST THE LORD? (3) – LK. 5:1-11.

… They left everything and followed him (Lk. 5:11).

Why the hesitation? What is that that you are still holding on to so tenaciously that is preventing you from yielding to the call of Jesus: FOLLOW ME? Fear of the unknown?

Lk. 5:11 says they left absolutely everything – their life’s dependence. They had worked all night with no success but in obedience to a single word of Jesus – boom!!! What a breakthrough. But they left every, I mean every without a second thought. Wao! What a faith.

It beats my imagination that they could do such a thing. They just had a major breakthrough in their careers and they threw it all away without a second thought. Why?! How could they?! How are they sure they would ever get such wonderful and astronomical financial breakthrough again in their lives?

They just left everything, even the instruments of their trade. Strange you know. This is total blind trust, courageous hope and unflinching obedience (as Christians we are all in dire need of these).

If at a single command they could have such an experience – nets at breaking point with boats at sinking points – then there will be much more of such experiences awaiting them when they follow this man called Jesus and hung on to his words.

So, why are you still hesitant in trusting the Lord. Just follow him with childlike humility trusting in his gracious words; for when you walk with him you will never stumble. So, just go of …… and TRUST him.

My sweet Jesus, the fear of the unknown more often than none prevents me from experiencing your merciful and liberating love. I worry too much other than trusting in your divine goodness. Grant me today like the disciples to let go of all my fears and follow you with childlike faith and hope. Amen.

Pray today with the song “Amazing grace”; Ps. 27&34 and with St. Pio’s “Stay with me, Lord.” Study the 18th chapter of the book of the prophet Jeremiah.
SHEPHERD ME O LORD, BEYOND MY STRENGTH.
