TMD – Day 12

The Monthly Devotional (TMD)

2nd Week

Day 12

Present your future before God; reflect, pray and consult God for directions

Introduction:

“Why are you going to consult Baalzebub, the god of Ekron? Is it because you think there is no god in Israel?” Who are you consulting today about your future and why? Have you lost confidence in God or is it that you do not know how to reach Him?  Imagine your kids going to strangers to enquire about their future and seeking for guidance from them? Imagine your kids taking strangers more seriously than they reverence you?

The future is scary, bleak and uncertain. We wish to take a peep into the future to chart our course better. We forget that we have a shepherd, that we are guided by the author and finisher of our faith. In fact God doesn’t want us to be anxious about tomorrow because it shows we are not confident in his love and divine providence. We make God feel irresponsible. No, please have total and unflinching confidence in God’s ability to lead you to the very end. If he created you, it is for a purpose, and a beautiful end. God knows where you belong better than you think you do.

For your future, reflect on your plans and if they are in line with God’s will. Pray for the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom for discernment. Consult God for the way forward. He would surely make a way through the sea or on the sea; He is sure to carry you on eagle’s wings to where you belong.

Bible passages:

  • Proverbs 16:1-3
  • Exodus 14; 19:4
  • Psalm 23; 31:15; 136:16
  • 2 King 1:1-16
  • Joshua 9:3-27
  • Psalm 119

Reflection:

What do you understand by consultation? Who do you consult for your next line of action? Leaders fail because they engage in poor/no consultation! Wisdom is profitable to direct.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, you are omniscient and omnipotent, I thank you for where you have brought me from, where you have brought me to; and where you are taking me to. I have no power of my own and totally depend on you. I desire the constant help and direction of the Holy Spirit in all my affairs as your wisdom is profitable to direct me always, amen!
