TMD – Day 15

The Monthly Devotional (TMD)

3rd Week

Day 15

Worship God for who he is… and for what he is in your life

Introduction:

Do you need to be reminded to worship God? The first duty of a child to the parents in the morning is in the act of salutation or greetings. Worship is the first duty of the created to the creator. This is one reason why God despises idolatry; because you ascribe that you were created by that idol which you worship. You simply mock God.

Worship God in thoughts, words and deeds since we must love him also with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Worship him in spirit and in truth. Let your soul feel that longing to meet this God; to see him face to face, as he really is.

The benefits derived from worshiping God are personal and invaluable. It can’t be quantified; and the rewards out–weigh human imagination and expectation. However, do not worship God simply because of what you expect to get from God.  Worship is an act of bonding the creator with the created and not an opportunity for extortion. Worship is an avenue to reveal true love.

Bible Passage:

  • Psalm 63:1-5; 42:2; 27:4
  • Leviticus 26:1
  • Deuteronomy 6:5
  • Matthew 22:37
  • Luke 4:8
  • John 4:23-24

Reflection:

Have you even been to a presidential villa/house? When you worship in the spirit, you depend on the power of God to take you to a realm where the reality is spiritual. You are at the Throne of mercy and grace, in the company of angels, time and space is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is the majestic throne before you and the love expressed. Do you know that one of the synonyms of worship is “love”: hence, when you worship, it is an opportunity to show true love and God also radiates his love in your life.

Prayer:

Father Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the I Am that I Am, the owner of my essence – my God, my creator; I worship you and exalt your Holy name, I give you all glory, all honour and all adoration. I empty myself before you because I love you and want you to fill me with your spirit anew. Please accept my worship in Jesus’ name I pray.
