The Monthly Devotional (TMD)
3rd Week
Day 16
Thank God for his love and faithfulness
Introduction:
Give thanks to God for he is good for his love has no end! Today you are to remind God of his love for you and how you wish to bask in that love. You remind God not because he has forgotten but to state the fact that you remember and trust him still.
Thanksgiving is a prayer of acknowledgement, acceptance and appreciation. You recognise and acknowledge the power, mercy and grace of God towards you; you receive God’s blessings, grace and providence; you show gratitude for all God has done/is doing/yet to do for you; and this certainly moves you to create avenues for more graces upon your life.
Remember that gratitude leads to altitude. Make a list of seven new things God has done for you and thank God. Make a list of seven new things you desire and that are in line with the will of God and thank God for them. Now, ask yourself what you have left out from this list; and make sure that they include the following: gifts of love, forgiving spirit, charitable heart, Godliness, self-control, wisdom, good health, a blessed family, food and water, shelter, peace, security, right friends, right job or business and for answered prayers. Most importantly, thank God that you can come to him; and that you can dwell in his presence.
Remember the story of Cain and Abel? Pray earnestly that your thanksgiving may find favour with God.
Bible Passage:
- Genesis 4:1-7
- Luke 17:11-19
- Psalm 136:1-5; 107:1-2, 8-9
- John6:11
Reflection:
Even Jesus taught his disciples to give thanks. He thanked God for miracles that were about to happen!
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for your unconditional love for me that endures, help me to truly love in return as you have commanded. May I be faithful to you till the end by your grace, in the name of Jesus Christ my Lord, amen!
