Day 25

Ask God to bless your hands and the works of your hands

Introduction:

My hands are blessed with the blessings of God. The hand is a symbol of help and a symbol of service. God expects every human to be in service; to continue, fulfil and perfect the creation story.

Adam, as narrated in the bible, was given this responsibility and everything was perfect until the fall of man that led to the curse that bears intense labour. Today, we acknowledge that God who has placed this curse on man has the power to relieve us of this curse with his divine blessings and grace received through Jesus Christ. We firmly believe that his providence would make light our burden.

It is by God’s divine grace that men have been blessed with various skills and talents. Do you remember how God directed Moses on how the Tent of worship should be built and how he specifically pointed out men with the desired skills? Do you remember how Noah built the Ark? Do you remember the story of the Tower of Babel? Yes, only God can perfect our Labour, give fruitfulness and rest. He has called all who Labour and are over-burdened. He promises rest; he gives hope!

God wants us to engage in work that brings life, works of enormous blessings to the earth. Our hands have been blessed so that we must be a blessing to others. When God created the earth all that was made was good, God brought life to the earth. God wants us to continue this work of blessing the earth. Are you engaged in any work that callously takes lives of human and animals from the earth or activities that destroy the earth? Is your work in line with God’s will? You can use your gifts more positively.

If you are in doubt about how blessed you are, raise your hands (your hearts) to God and tell him to show you how you can be a part of this great work he started; and continue his work of love on earth.

Bible Passage:

  • Genesis 2:15; 3:17-19; 6:13-17; 11:1-9
  • Deuteronomy 28:1-14
  • Exodus 31:1-6
  • Psalm 20:4; 24:1
  • Daniel 1: 17-21

Reflection:

God from the very beginning has commanded us to be fruitful in all that concerns us. God perfected his creation for the benefit of man but man refuses to perfect creation for the benefit of God’s glory. Hence, man is always confused and works in futility. Would you create anything or start a project and desire it fails? Would you not have conceived a desirable end for that project? Let your hands work with God today. Obey God’s commandments and work with Him.

Prayer

Almighty Father, bless my hands and the work of my hands that they may work according to your will, in faithfulness, perfection and fruitfulness, Amen.
