The Monthly Devotional (TMD)
1st Week
Day 3
Lay your heart bare and ask God to forgive and cleanse you
Introduction:
A contrite heart you would not scorn, Oh Lord! Without a pure heart, you can’t see God! Your contrite heart holds the key to the door of heaven to which we are introduced by the mercy of Christ. Empty yourself before God. Free yourself from all sorts of evil thoughts and desires; pride, lust, selfishness, greed, hatred, envy, pain, vengeance, anger, un-forgiveness, wickedness…
Confess your sins… confession is admittance of weakness and resolution to draw strength from God!
Then fill your heart with love, peace, humility, righteousness, forgiveness, joy, praise, self-control, selflessness… and every good virtue.
Humble yourself before God because we are nothing except what God has made of us. Fear God and earnestly seek to do his will. Replace the love of self for the love of God (in loving God, you have loved yourself even more). Seek God’s Holy Spirit to fill you. Seek ye first the kingdom of God…
Bible passage:
- Psalm 1
- Psalm 51:17
- Matthew 5:8
- 1 John 1:8-9
- James 4:10
- Matthew 6:31-34
Reflection:
Do you have your bath regularly, I mean spiritual cleansing?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, have mercy on me oh Lord, for I have sinned against you; in my thoughts, words and actions I have let you down. I have allowed weakness and wickedness to overcome me; please have mercy. Oh Lord, have mercy because I desire your Kingdom and its righteousness; help me to attain a pure heart so that I can see you, amen!
