Day 4
Reconcile with all those you have hurt and those that have hurt you
Introduction:
Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall be called sons of God. One way to ensure peace is to encourage reconciliation. When reconciliation is achieved, you secure peace with self, with neighbour and with God. Your gifts at the foot of the altar are meaningless before God if you are un-reconciled or hold enmities with others.
Any good father would ensure peace and harmony in his home. He would encourage respect, forgiveness, tolerance and reconciliation; on this he is able to secure love amongst one another in the home. This is exactly what God desires in His Kingdom, and that is what he wants from us his children. In truth, the person who seeks to apologise first is not the weakest but the strongest.
Our greatest misgiving is that we hold on to pain, betrayal, pride, loss of possession, position or person; we tag some situations as unforgiveable; No… nothing last forever, thus it is important to learn to let go. Learn to forgive! Learn to reconcile! Child of God, learn to embrace peace!
Bible Passage:
- Matthew 5:9
- Ephesians 4:31-32
- Matthew 5:23-25
Reflection:
Do you think God desires to entertain malice, slander, pride, bitterness, revenge and un–
forgiveness in heaven? So what are you practising here on earth?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, make me a channel of your peace, where there is hatred let me bring love; where there is injury your pardon Lord; and where there is doubt true faith in you. Oh Master grant that I may never seek, so much to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love with all my soul… Amen (Prayer of St. Francis)
