Day 6
Ask God to deliver you from evil; people, principalities & powers, and unfortunate situations
Introduction:
I will not go unless you go with me Lord. I will not go where the Spirit of God has not led me to. Many are the affliction of the righteous man but the Lord save him from them all. The story of Job is evidence enough that people find themselves in troubled situations and unfortunate circumstances. Situations or circumstances they cannot comprehend or explain. Like Jesus, we may cry out…Oh Lord, why have you forsaken me!
God delivers; for sure he delivers according to his plan, in line with what he has in store for you. God delivered Joseph, Daniel and Jeremiah, Peter, Paul and Silas. Yes, we do not desire to be put in the pit but, even then his deliverance is even sure and the glory greater.
We must ask God to deliver us from evil: our weakness and our wickedness; from evil people around us, leading us astray; from principalities and powers and dark forces, from evil situations that lead us away from God’s plan for us. A thousand may fall by our right or ten thousand all around us but we won’t be harmed. Deliverance is sure, and there is no situation you are in that God is not aware of, just keep faith in God and let his name be glorified with the outcome.
Bible passage:
- Psalm 37:40; 91
- Job 1:9-12; 2:1-7; 42:12
- Genesis 41:14, 39-43; 50:19-21
- Daniel 6:11-23
- Jeremiah 26:1-14
- Acts 12:1-11; 16:16-26
- Matthew 6:13
Reflection:
The Lord delivers, even in death – Lazarus was called out from the jaws of death. How terrible can you case be?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, the Almighty God, I thank you as you look graciously on your child and deliver me from every form of danger, known and unknown, that surrounds me. Cover me with your hedge and make me a turning point to my enemies, in Jesus name, amen!
